Bulletin Board
Dear Moonkun,
In about one week and about 1h, we will hopefully have a beer (or soft drink) together at the ECIS 2015 Welcome Reception! In our last email (did not receive it? Read it here:http://www.ecis2015.eu/mail1) you learned something about the timeline, guidelines for presentations, what to do before and during the conference, and about finding your way to and around Münster). Today, you will get some more fine-grained information about your stay in Münster and the first days. Everything that was valid for the last email is valid for this one: A lot of text (hopefully worth reading), so don't print, store as PDF!
*Your first steps in Münster*
Why should this be of relevance? Well, the train station of Münster was never a candidate for the Germany's most beautiful train station award (currently, and this is unnecessary knowledge, that's Dresden and Hünfeld). We "Münsteraner" learned to live with that and accepted it. You cannot imagine the surprise when former "Deutsche Bahn (DB)" boss Mehdorn (responsible for BER - Berlin Airport, btw) announced in 2007 that the train station would be renovated. Back then, DB said they wanted to start 2009, which did not happen. Drawn from our experience, this would indicate a completion date around 2025. Two years ago, and this was a miracle, DB announced that they would start in 2014, and they would rip apart half of the building. This happened beginning of 2015, the year in which, you guess it, ECIS takes place!
Long story short: You will start on a construction site and you will have to leave the building to the (wrong) eastward side. All the buses leave from the westward side. On this side also leaves the direct pedestrian way to the conference. So if you leave the train station, follow the following path:
Your walk to the venue will take approx. 21 minutes, give or take 2 minutes:
https://goo.gl/xbPuK0 (link to google maps).
If you prefer to take the bus, use http://efa.vrr.de/vrr/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en&itdLPxx_transpCompany=vrr
From: City/Place "MS"; Stop: "Hbf" (Hauptbahnhof)
To: City/Place "MS"; "Stop: "Domplatz"
For your convenience, the best options in the morning would be
* Bus 2 (Target: "Münster Clemenshospital"), Bay C1, 8:20-8:27
* Bus 11 (Target: "Münster Dieckmannstraße"), Bay C1, 8:20-8:27
* Bus 1 (Target: "Münster Roxel Hallenbad"), Bay B1, 8:21-8:28
* Bus 12 (Target: "Münster Heekweg"), Bay B1, 8:30-8:37
* Bus 10 (Target: "Münster Waldweg"), Bay C1, 8:30-8:37
* Bus 14 (Target: "Münster Zoo"), Bay B1, 8:31-8:38
* Bus 13 (Target: "Münster Technologiepark"), Bay B1, 8:36-8:43
You pay the bus driver, the trip will cost 1.60€ (try to have the right amount in your pocket!). When leaving the bus, say "bye" to the bus driver - they don't know this tradition in Germany and make funny faces :-)
*Registration*
Registration will be open on Tuesday, May 26th, 8.00-16.30, at the venue, and between 17.00 and 19.00 during the Welcome Reception at the Castle of Münster. Checkhttp://www.ecis2015.eu/map for an overview of all the locations!
During the conference days (May 27-29), registration will be open between 08.00 and 18.00 at the conference venue.
*Dress code*
ECIS established a smart casual dress code the recent years. You know Germans: In general, we are very formal. However, in this case, we thought to follow our predecessors and also have smart casual as the official dress code: https://youtu.be/GFpN5dVr1GE
*Side events*
As announced last time, you can go pub crawling, play soccer, and go jogging. All you have to do is registering here: http://www.ecis2015.eu/conference/side-events
Once more, don’t forget to follow us on Twitter (https://twitter.com/ecis2015, @ecis2015, #ECIS2015), celebrate the presentation of your paper with #Juchhu and the link to paper, think about “what if ECIS was a soccer tournament”, and have a good time until next week!
You (again) made it through the whole email, very good, thanks for reading!
All the very best, on behalf of the Conference Chairs and the Organizing Team

Dear Moonkun,
I hope you are well prepared for the conference (whatever that means)
and about to jump into the plane, train, car, on the bike, or put on
your walking shoes! Please find some very final remarks that came to our
minds yesterday during the setup phase of the venue... You can find a
lot of information in the last two emails I sent. Don't have them
anymore? Check here: http://www.ecis2015.eu/mail1,
http://www.ecis2015.eu/mail2.
*Share your slides or posters*
Sharing means caring, and why not give some slides to your community?
Instead of a
"May-I-give-you-my-Business-Card-so-you-can-send-me-your-slides-after-the-conference",
you can cut it down to "May-I-give-you-my-Business-Card"! If you want to
share your slides, send an email to slides@ecis2015.eu and we will
upload them to the system. Please state the title of your paper, this
will make it easier for us to assign it correctly. The slides will then
be available in the app and online.
*Bring the right cloths*
The weather in Münster is unpredictable. Some people still try to, and
according to Kachelmann (famous German meteorologist), it does not look
too bad for next week (<-- Westphalian for "quite good"):
http://goo.gl/uUTmYp (Kachelmannwetter, the forecast is usually *really*
good). As you can see: No rain from Monday on. If you still need an
umbrella, the University is helping you out: https://goo.gl/EKyuik
(That's the University of Muenster Umbrella Vending Machine)
*Follow us on Twitter*
You don't use Twitter because it is nonsense? Well, no, it is not:
Although we sent things that might not be very interesting for you (like
our conference van full of beer: https://goo.gl/i9Cdv4), we will also
tweet updates. If you want to stay updated, follow @ecis2015 and
#ECIS2015 (https://twitter.com/ecis2015)!
*Use the App*
Aside from our great program booklet (at least that's what we think...
but well, we made it), the best way to navigate through the conference
is the ECIS2015 app. Download it here:
* Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.pcss.ecis2015
* iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/app/ecis-2015/id991323381?mt=8
* Windows:
http://www.windowsphone.com/s?appid=872e8cbe-14ef-4748-a982-7b8596b72485
*See some photos*
The conference did not even start, and we uploaded some pictures:
http://www.ecis2015.eu/photos
We will extend the gallery regularly during the conference. Until now
you can get an impression of Münster as it looked two weeks ago. The
pictures were taken by Sebastian, our guy behind the camera during the
conference. As you can see, he knows how to put things into the right
light :-)
*Read a bit about our ToD*
No, no typo, the Treasures of the Week (ToW) have now been replaced by
the Treasures of the Day (ToD). Find a new treasure each day during the
conference! http://www.ecis2015.eu/tow (yes, the link remained the same).
*Train connection from Duesseldorf*
One of our volunteers sent the following information about the train
connection from Duesseldorf:
"Auch wenn ich eure Streik-vorbei-Freude nicht dämpfen möchte: Der RE2
von Düsseldorf verkehrt heute 10:30 – 22:30 Uhr sowie Sonntag, 24. Mai,
17:30 Uhr bis Montag, 25. Mai, 0:30 Uhr *NICHT*ab Flughafen sondern
startet wegen Bauarbeiten erst in Duisburg Hbf. Bis dahin muss man z.B.
mit dem RE3 Rt. Hamm oder RE6 Rt. Minden die eine Station überbrücken.
Falls das von Interesse für die früh Anreisenden ist.."
Don't understand it? Don't worry... That's because it's German! In
essence, it says:
"On Sunday, RE2 from Duesseldorf Airport does NOT leave at the airport
due to maintenance work, but at Duisburg Main Station. To get there, use
RE3 towards 'Hamm' or RE6 towards 'Minden'. Get out at Duisburg Main
Station and step into RE2 to Muenster."
*Pub Crawl*
Please register for the Pub Crawl on Monday evening, if you not already
did so. Kevin and Sebastian will take you to some nice pubs in Münster,
and will meet you at 7pm in front of the Town Hall. The tour is free,
drinks and taxi back home not. But well, you can still crawl...
*VfB Stuttgart stays in the first German soccer league*
For me, it was worth mentioning it, however, I am *honestly* sorry for
Freiburg and Paderborn.
That's it for now. See you all very soon!

[ECIS2015] Two weeks to go..
It is only two weeks until the start of the 23rd European Conference on
Information Systems (ECIS2015)! We're really looking forward to
welcoming you in our lovely city! We hope that you already booked your
accommodation, as there are many people out there knowing that Münster
is a beautiful city, which is worth to stay for a while - especially end
of May! With this email, we would like to provide you with some
information which will help you for your stay here. The email might be a
bit longer, but it will be worth reading it! Load it on your tablet and
read it outside in the sun, create a PDF, but don't print it! That is
not necessary!
What you should know right now...:
*Timeline*
--- The central part of ECIS will officially start on Tuesday, May 26,
at 5pm inside and behind the Münster Castle (find our "all-you-need map"
here: http://www.ecis2015.eu/map) with the Welcome Reception.
--- Before that, during the day of the 26th, we have thirteen workshops
taking place at the conference venue and the University library (just
around the corner of the site).
Even before that, we will have the Doctoral Consortium in Enschede, the
Netherlands!
--- On 27th, 28th, and 29th, we will have the main conference with many
presentations, posters, and the conference dinner on Thursday evening.
The conference ends Friday, 1.30pm after the box lunch.
*Presentations and Posters*
--- Check our guidelines:
http://www.ecis2015.eu/participation/guidelines-presentations
--- Please prepare your slides (or whatever you would like to use) for
about 20 minutes, and prepare yourself for about 10 minutes of
discussion. We do not offer any template, please feel free to use any
template you like!
--- Same is valid for posters: Every Research-in-Progress paper will
have a poster board with a size of 140 cm (h) x 99 cm (w). We suggest
the format DIN A0 for a poster (roughly 120 cm x 85 cm) - that's about
it. This should provide enough space for whatever ideas you want to put
there.
--- Prototype presentations will be provided with a middle-class Dell
desktop with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2013 installed, keyboard,
mouse, and a display. In the best case, bring a virtual machine with you.
--- Want to know when the presentation of your complete research paper
will take place? Check out http://www.ecis2015.eu/conference/program.
*What to do before and during the conference*
--- Check out our Treasures of the Week (http://www.ecis2015.eu/tow).
This is a carefully selected variety of hidden (or not so hidden) gems
in Münster that you should not miss and which will take you a couple of
days (and nights) to explore! The ToWs were supplied by the staff and
friends of the IS Department at the University of Münster, so they know
what they are talking about.
--- If you arrive already on Monday, join a pub crawl with two of our
Ph.D. candidates - please register for it
(http://www.ecis2015.eu/conference/side-events/let-me-crawl).
--- On Tuesday evening, after the Welcome Reception, you can get rid of
excess calories by playing indoor soccer... We have limited places
available, so register fast - FCFS:
http://www.ecis2015.eu/conference/side-events/soccer. Registration is
free, bring adequate cloths. The courts are artificial grass. We will
get you there, so you do not have to care about that!
--- On Wednesday, be sure to join the poster session. Not only will you
be able to discuss 69 great Research-in-Progress papers and prototypes,
you will also be served a nice cocktail!
--- On Wednesday evening, our sponsor Strategy& invites excellent junior
scientists from Germany, Switzerland and Austria with passion for IT and
digitization to a networking dinner to learn about Strategy& and the job
entry as a PhD graduate in the strategy consulting field. Interested?
Send your application per short CV (incl. grades) until May 20 to
Sabine.Runge@strategyand.pwc.com. More information:
http://www.strategyand.pwc.com/media/file/Strategyand-ECIS-Networking-Dinner.pdf
--- On Thursday morning, we offer an early morning run (for the same
reasons as the soccer event). Run 5, 8, or 10 kilometers, starting at
7am. To be sure that we do not lose anybody during the run, (free)
registration is required
(http://www.ecis2015.eu/conference/side-events/let-me-run).
*Finding your way to and around Münster*
--- There are plenty of ways to get to Münster - have a look here:

Thanks for reading this email to the very end! You will receive the next
update beginning of next week... Stay tuned!
All the very best, on behalf of the Conference Chairs and the Organizing
Team
